ATOMIC Habits 7

Last time when you were here, we talked about Environment but this time, we would look how every bit of this environment triggers the cue and how self-control is just a phenomenon and not practical.

Your list of habits can be the good you want to create, but it could also be the bad ones you want to destroy. The ones you are running from, you are not just trying to loose weight by building regular exercising habits, or drinking water habits but also, leaving bad habit of eating wrong food. You aren’t just developing a habit of reading at night but also looking forward to break a habit of using phone in those last hours. Similarly, you are not just looking forward to maintain your good financial habits but also looking forward to break the wrong habit of loosing self-control when your first salary pops in. So, what I trying here establish here is that every good habit is needed because there exist a wrong habit, or a habit that is bad for us.

So why not, break it, same like making cues obvious for good habit, why not make cues invisible for wrong habits. Yes, you got it right every small cue in a environment leads our habits to be either good or bad, we just need to make good ones obvious and make wrong ones invisible. You want to stop eating bad remove all the junk food inside kitchen, you don’t want to look at phone in night, put in on your dresser or washroom or somewhere away from you, or leave it in your kitchen or study. You want to stop wasting money, ask you landlord to knock your door, the day you receive salary each month, you can keep you SIPs for the same day, this way you make it invisible. But what about self-control?

You may eat out, you may use alarm as an excuse for phone, you may just get urgency to pay, but all these lead to break your, self-control. And James says, you may control over bad habits for a duration but you really can’t break it. Well, I would like you to leave you all in this suspense….it’s fun watching you people, wait for a bit more.

I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME! LOve,LOve
